Comprehensive German B1 Level Preparation
The B1 level represents intermediate German proficiency, where you can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. According to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), B1 is the threshold level where learners can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in a German-speaking area, produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions.
B1 is often a major milestone for learners, especially for common goals like studies, work, or residency requirements. Our B1 practice tests are designed to reflect common B1 exam formats and help you practice intermediate skills across listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
What You'll Practice in German B1 Tests
Our B1 practice tests cover all four language skills with intermediate-level complexity. The listening comprehension component tests your ability to understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters, catch the main point in many radio or TV programs on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest, and understand many films in standard dialect.
The reading comprehension section evaluates your ability to understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language, understand the description of events, feelings, and wishes in personal letters, and read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems. The writing component challenges you to write simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, write personal letters describing experiences and impressions, and compose texts expressing opinions and arguments. Finally, the speaking section assesses your ability to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling, enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, and connect phrases in a simple way to describe experiences and events.
